A very pleasant wine. Bright, clear red color. Aromas are surprising in their intensity and fruit. On the palate, a tender, supple, graceful, round body. Very flavorful in the aftertaste, with a hint of blackberry jam. When the wine gets older, wild blackberry is the dominant aroma. After 3 or 5 years, the wine takes on a distinctive smell of truffle and undergrowth evolving towards notes of venison.
Lucia Pisoni Vineyards Pinot Noir & Syrah - CA
Despite its youthfulness, the Lucia Pinot Noir already shows signs of finesse. The fruit offers a gorgeous balance of acid and sugar levels, the result of cooling ocean breezes and foggy mornings in the vineyards. Once poured, the wine releases elegant aromas of raspberry, violets and crushed rose petal that linger in the glass. These floral notes also persevere in the mouth, producing a rich, elongated finish. Suave, layered tannins deliver great texture and length.
The 2014 Susan’s Syrah is bold and intense with elegant nuances. Piercing aromas of blackberry, olive, wet stone, baking spice and the familiarity of a worn leather chair. It is the soil’s layers of granite and schist that produce the dense and almost chewy tannins to this Syrah. The palate is tight, indicating the cellaring potential, but with time in the glass it unfolds into a mouth-coating, layered, high-altitude Syrah.
Schug Cabernet Sauvignon
A ripe mouthful of currant and cherry flavors are framed by fine tannins and a touch of spicy oak. It has a classic bouquet bursting with berries, cassis and spice. The bright berry flavors and lively acidity would complement hearty stews, wild mushrooms, and grilled meats.
